# Lace®® wallet — Extension®®

**Lace Wallet Extension is not a hardware wallet but a browser extension wallet** developed by Input Output Global (IOG), the company behind Cardano. Its official website is **lace.io**, and the extension must be downloaded from the official website or official browser stores—do not trust search ads or third-party mirrors.

### Official Download Channels

The official version of Lace Wallet is available through the following channels:

* **Official Website**: [https://www.lace.io](https://www.lace.io)
* **Chrome Web Store**: Search for "Lace" or access it via the official website link, developer is IOHK USA LLC
* **Microsoft Edge Add-ons**: Also available for installation

The current extension version is approximately **2.4.2** (updated late September 2026), with approximately 80,000 users.

### Installation and Creation Process

**Step 1: Install the Extension**
Open the Chrome browser, visit the Chrome Web Store or the official Lace website, click "Add to Chrome" and confirm the installation. It is recommended to pin the extension to the toolbar for easy access.

**Step 2: Create a New Wallet**
Click the Lace icon, select "Create a new wallet", read and accept the Terms of Use, and set a wallet name and a strong password.

**Step 3: Back Up the Recovery Phrase (Critical)**
The wallet will generate a **secret passphrase (seed phrase)**. This is the only credential for recovering the wallet, and **it must be written down on paper and stored offline**. Never take a screenshot, save it in a digital file, or share it with anyone. If lost, no one can help you recover it.

**Step 4: Verify and Complete**
Enter the recovery phrase as prompted to verify, and once complete you will enter the wallet main interface. The initial balance displays as 0, and you can click "Receive" to obtain the address and transfer funds in.

### Core Features (Based on the Latest Version)

Lace has evolved from a Cardano-exclusive wallet into a **multi-chain wallet**, currently supporting **Cardano, Bitcoin, and Midnight**.

**Cardano Ecosystem**
Supports ADA staking delegation, NFT viewing and management, DApp connection, and ADA Handle resolution. Starting from version 2.2, users can delegate voting power directly to governance options such as "Abstain" or "No Confidence".

**Hardware Wallet Integration**
Supports Ledger (Nano S, S+, X) and Trezor hardware wallets. For Bitcoin accounts, you can import from a hardware wallet and sign transactions directly on the device without switching between applications.

**Air-Gapped Signing (New Feature)**
Lace 2.2 became the first Cardano wallet to support **SeedSigner**. Through animated QR code interaction, users can sign ADA and Bitcoin transactions without connecting the signing device to a computer, achieving fully air-gapped security.

**Midnight Network Support**
The Midnight testnet requires the use of the Lace extension and currently only fully supports the Chrome browser. Users need to configure the node, Indexer, and Proof Server addresses (the default points to a local Proof Server to protect privacy). Test tokens tDUST can be obtained from the official faucet.

### ⚠️ Security Reminders

Lace officially emphasizes: **The only official source is lace.io**. Install the extension from links on the official website, not from search ads, forum posts, or third-party mirror sites. Never enter your recovery phrase on any website, and customer support will never request this information.
